Born in Paris in 1990 and now based in Lausanne, Lucas Erin is a Franco-Caribbean artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, video, and writing. His work explores encounter, displacement, resistance, and belonging through a multicultural and postcolonial perspective. Drawing on Caribbean histories, theories of creolisation, ecology, and social rituals, Erin creates situations where objects, materials, and bodies become carriers of both personal and collective narratives. His installations often emerge through processes of association, transformation, and reappropriation, bringing together familiar forms and materials to create new symbolic and affective resonances.
Erin studied at ECAL, graduating in 2016. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at MCBA, Lausanne; La Salle de bains, Lyon; di volta in volta, Paris; and All Stars, Lausanne, as well as in group exhibitions at MCBA, Lausanne; Circuit, Lausanne; Helmhaus, Zurich; and Liste Art Fair Basel. He was awarded the Leenaards Cultural Grant for Visual Arts in 2022 and received the Manor Cultural Prize Vaud in
