We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Lilian Bourgeat, opening on thursday 5 June, from 6 pm in Auvernier.

 

Lilian Bourgeat creates installations composed of oversized elements drawn from everyday life. Their astonishing change in scale strips them of their original functionality and shifts them into another realm, that of the extraordinary. These manufactured, ordinary, and commonplace objects, by losing the insignificance inherent to their status, thereby gain a new autonomy. The viewer is confronted with fragments of their familiar world, now deprived of their reassuring character. Lilian Bourgeat, whether in a subtle or on the contrary very direct manner, often involving audience participation, confronts the public with unique and unsettling experiences.
